Your blood's pressure against your artery walls is known as blood pressure. Via arteries, blood is carried from your heart to other parts of your body. Your blood pressure normally rises and falls during the day. Blood pressure is calculated using two numbers. The first number, or systolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your arteries while your heart beats. The second number, or diastolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your arteries between heartbeats. A normal blood pressure reading is less than 120/80 mmHg. Elevated blood pressure is known as hypertension, or high blood pressure. Your blood pressure varies throughout the day based on your activity.
