Constipation is a condition where bowel movements are painful or infrequent. Constipation is typically defined as the inability to pass more than three times per week in little volumes of firm, dry stool during bowel motions. Yet depending on the individual, having a bowel movement three times a day or three times a week is typical stool removal. An excessive amount of water is absorbed by the colon, which leads to hard, dry faeces. Typically, the colon, also known as the large intestine, absorbs water while creating faeces as food passes through it (waste products). The stool is subsequently propelled into the rectum by muscle contractions, and by the time it gets there, most of the water has been absorbed, leaving the faeces solid.
